I must confess that part of why I hate crowdsourced things for magicians is simple. You are begging.
You’re begging for money, and that irritates me. Even busking on the street – although honorable, I guess – still feels like begging.
And we should be better than that. Busking reduces us to the same level as the guy that disguises himself to look like a bush and jumps out at people.
We should have people pay to see us, not have people see us and then maybe pay.
Although…I have always thought about trying busking…except instead of people giving ME money, it would go to a charity…and the biggest donor of the day would get to pick the charity out of a list of organizations. This feels ok.
