Connections! Or money! That’s what it takes.

If you look at a vast majority of well-known magicians, you’ll find that they had mentors. Or they worked together. Or they go to conventions and introduce themselves to EVERY NAME they can find.

Because it is connections that get you the introduction to the right producer. The right patron. The right magic aficionado that wants to print a magic book.

It’s connections that get you on TV shows, radio, cable…connections that you’ve worked on for years. Keep hitting up every person you know to book you or tell their friends about you, or introduce you to the person that is in charge of putting on the Xmas show.

THAT’S how you succeed.

Notice I didn’t once mention talent. Because that’s not needed.

Money works too. Buy a magic show if you can, complete with dozens of illusions, and presto, you’re an illusionist. Doing the same show the previous owner did, but no one in the audience will remember.

So how do I know this? Because I DIDN’T do this, and hardly anyone knows me. Even though I’m a very good, very original magician, I don’t get all of the bookings others do because they know how to “schmooze”…and I certainly don’t.

So get out there make a name for yourself.
